The Richmondville Historical Society must look not only to the past,
but must also have a vision for it's future. At the heart of that
vision is The Bunn Mill. As we continue to grow as an
organization,we hope too that the functions that the mill is
able to provide will also grow. We envision the large open main
level functioning as a community center to host historical
society, community and private events. The
large room off the main room will serve as a
meeting hall for the historical society and
will be available as a meeting hall to other
community groups. The smaller room in the front of
the main level will be used as a library and research
room and for historical document storage. To the side
of the research room are three small rooms, an office,
a kitchenette and a bathroom. The lower level of
the Mill still holds the original water wheels and
grinding mechanism used by The Bunn Mill. We look to
restore the water works to its original working order
for tours and demonstrations. The large upper
level of the mill will become a museum, housing
all the artifacts donated to the historical society since it's
inception. Much needs to be done to achieve these goals. It will
take alot of time, effort, and money for our vision to become reality. But
a future that we are able to envision, is a future that we can obtain.
